Old crafts revisited: Baby Booties

I can't believe it, but I knitted these baby booties three years ago, when my niece Brynn was born. I forgot all about them, until I found them in her bedroom at her third birthday party. They're so tiny! I'm pretty sure the pattern came from the Stitch 'N Bitch Nation book. They were fun to make and so fast! Only problems: 1) the pattern called for wool, which seemed a bit impractical for baby clothes, and 2) the pattern required some crocheting for the strap, and I don't have a clue how to crochet. I made it up as I went along. Seems like they turned out okay, though!

Toads!

Last weekend, like every weekend from May 4th until the end of time, I was working in the yard, pulling up weeds and dead stuff. I was picking up handfuls of wet dead leaves when I ran across this guy. He startled me so much I almost fell over backwards. Toads. So small, so motionless, yet so terrifying!
Now I approach yard cleanup much more gingerly. If a couple of toads freak me out, I can't imagine what kind of screaming banshee I'd become if I ever reached into a pile of dead leaves and pulled out a snake.

Recycled Junk Mail Art Redux

I wasn't quite satisfied with my first attempt at junk mail art, so I recently did some editing. Rather than start over, I just pasted more, bluer strips of junk mail over the original, to darken the background a bit. And I cut a new tree, this time on cardstock to make it stand out more.
